About
Last updated: September 5, 2026
We started this site around a simple idea: most Japan travel guides are organized by city, but most travelers actually think in terms of what they’re interested in — food, spirituality, nature, festivals, hot springs, or simply getting away from the crowds.
So instead of another “Tokyo Travel Guide” or “3 Days in Kyoto” itinerary, we organize everything here by interest first. Pick what you care about, and we’ll point you toward the regions, towns, and experiences in Japan that match it — from the well-known to the overlooked.
Who’s writing this
This site is written from the perspective of someone born and raised in Japan — sharing the country the way a local actually experiences it, including the everyday context and manners that don’t usually make it into outsider-written guides. Our guide to Japanese culture and etiquette goes into this in more depth, including an honest look at what’s genuinely great about traveling here, and what’s more difficult than people expect.
How we write our guides
The site is new and actively expanding. Some of the practical details below (like the exact publishing schedule and author bios) are still being finalized.
- We focus on general travel planning information — where to go, why it’s worth visiting, and what to expect — rather than time-sensitive specifics like exact prices or hours, which change often and are best confirmed with official sources before you travel.
- Each guide is organized around a consistent structure so you can quickly compare destinations within a theme.
- We link out to official and reputable sources wherever it’s useful for booking or verifying current details.
